Who you are dealing with

This site and the waitlist behind it are run by Books Court, contactable at hello@bookscourt.com. Anything on this page — a question, a request for a copy of your data, a demand to be deleted — goes to that address.

What is collected

Two things, and nothing beyond them.

• Your email address, if you join the waitlist. No name, no country, no company — the form asks for one field because one field is all that is wanted.
• Anonymous traffic statistics: which pages are opened, which links are clicked, the rough region a visit came from and what kind of device it used. These are counted in aggregate and are never joined up with an email address.

Why it is held, and on what basis

Your address is held on the basis of your consent, given when you submitted the form, and used to tell you when the beta opens, when the app launches, and occasionally what is being built. That is the whole purpose.

It is not sold, not rented, not handed to advertisers, and not used to build a profile of you. You can withdraw consent whenever you like — the unsubscribe link at the foot of every email does it in one click, and it takes effect immediately.

Who else handles it

Three companies process data on our behalf and on our instructions only:

• Resend — stores the mailing list and delivers the email.
• Umami Cloud — the traffic statistics. It is cookieless: nothing is written to your browser and visitors are not fingerprinted or followed across other sites.
• Cloudflare — serves this page and carries your sign-up in transit.

Where it goes

All three operate in the United States, so an address on the list is processed outside the UK and the EEA. Those transfers rely on the standard contractual clauses in each provider’s data-processing terms.

Cookies

None. This site sets no cookies, writes nothing to local storage, and asks for no consent because there is nothing to consent to.

How long it is kept

Your address stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask for it to be removed, whichever happens first. Unsubscribing stops all future email at once; ask by email and the record itself is deleted. Traffic statistics are aggregate from the moment they are collected and are not tied to any individual.

What you can ask for

Write to hello@bookscourt.com and you can have any of the following. No particular form of words is needed, and a reply should reach you within thirty days.

• A copy of everything held about you.
• A correction, if the address is wrong.
• Deletion of the record.
• Your consent withdrawn, without giving a reason.
• A complaint lodged with your national data-protection authority, if the answer you get is unsatisfactory.

Age

This site is not aimed at children, and nobody under 16 should join the waitlist.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change affects what happens to an address already on the list, everyone on the list is told by email before it takes effect.
